The Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency (STIA) will meet in-person in Tillamook Monday, November 14 for a regular board meeting, a tour of the proposed Barview to Garibaldi section of the trail, and an executive session to tackle legal issues.
All told, five hours are scheduled for the meetings and tour, starting at 9 a.m. at the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) office (5005 3rd Street, Tillamook), where the day will start with a roughly half-hour presentation on the Barview to Garibaldi segment. Around 9:30 a.m., the general public is invited to follow vehicles provided for board members to a spot just south of Harborview Drive between Garibaldi and Rockaway along Highway 101.
Returning to the Tillamook ODF office, the board will meet in an executive session—closed to the general public; media can attend but not report the meeting's contents—to "discuss legal issues" from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The business meeting will resume at 12:30 p.m., the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department said in a press release, and end at 2 p.m. following another discussion of the Barview to Garibaldi segment and an update on the Salmonberry Trail Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the trail-building effort. This portion of the meeting will also include time for public comment.
A full agenda is expected to be published online no later than November 7.
The proposed Salmonberry Trail is an 87-mile corridor that follows the Port of Tillamook Bay Railway From Banks to Tillamook, passing through Manning, Buxton, Timber, Enright, Mohler, and other communities and cities in Washington and Tillamook Counties.
STIA was formed in 2015 as a framework of government agencies, including the Oregon Department of Forestry, Washington County, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and more. It is the government entity responsible for promoting and leading planning, development and maintenance of the proposed Salmonberry Trail.
